Does Nioxin Hair System Kit 5 help in reducing hair fall or hair thinning?

How are you all? I’m doing fine but caught up in a whirlwind of activities right now. Today’s blog is about a topic that I threw some light on last month. Yes, the Nioxin Hair System. I got to try the hair system and here’s my experience on it so far.

So I tried the Nioxin Hair System Kit 5 which is for medium to coarse hair natural/ chemically treated hair and here is my experience after using it for a month now 🙂

A little about the contents of the kit before I talk about them individually 🙂

• Nioxin Scalp Revitaliser System 5
• Nioxin Scalp Treatment System 5

Before I started off with this routine, at the salon I was given a Nioxin Derma Renew treatment. Derma Renew in true sense means renewing your scalp. It works just like a scrub but for your scalp. I had dry patches on my scalp – traces of which completely disappeared after my Derma Renew treatment.

Nioxin Cleanser System 5: This cleanser  helps to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environment residues from the scalp skin and hair. Cleanses to provide thicker-looking hair.

Nioxin Scalp Revitaliser System 5 is a smoothing conditioner that helps to provide hair resilience and control moisture balance for normal to thin-looking hair.

Nioxin Scalp Treatment System 5 is a cosmetic product containing antioxidants, botanicals and peppermint oil that help to provide a refreshed scalp environment for normal to thin-looking hair.

My take on Nioxin Hair System kit 5

Packaging: Nioxin Cleanser and Scalp Revitaliser come in similar white bottles with press to open mechanism. Both are of 150ml each and I had been advised to wash my hair daily with this.But after a few washes because of how cool the products are for the scalp(as it contains menthol) , I caught a cold. So I had to limit washing my hair to once in two days. That helped. 🙂

The Nioxin Scalp treatment comes in a bottle of 50ml which you need to spray onto your scalp on towel-dried hair after hair wash. The packaging is travel-friendly as it hasn’t leaked until now on my travels.

Texture and fragrance: The Nioxin Cleanser has gel like consistency but a little runny. It smells just like mint and I love that. It lathers amazingly well. The Nioxin Revitaliser on the other hand has masque like consistency( just like any other conditioner) and smells heavily of mint too. ♥ More like menthol. Nioxin Scalp Treatment has runny consistency and needs to be sprayed a few centimetres away from your scalp. This has menthol fragrance too. All these 3 products have a cooling effect on the scalp. Love it!

Results

Nioxin Hair Sytem Kit 5 was given to us to reduce signs of hair thinning in a way. They did tell us not to expect results like thicker or longer hair within a month as it’s not designed for that. But the basic purpose of this was to reduce signs of hair thinning to an extent. Has it reduced hairfall? With the first wash, I did notice less hairfall than usual. But after that, it hasn’t made a drastic difference.

It’s been a month and now it’s back to the same amount of hairfall. 🙁 Also, this trio weighs my hair down. My scalp type is oily and this weighs down my hair the next day after wash itself.But looking at the brighter side, my hair feels super soft after wash. Also, I have naturally straight hair but when I use this trio, I see that my hair length stays super straight than usual 😛 The rough dry patches on my scalp aren’t there anymore so that’s a plus. 🙂

• Hairfall hasn’t reduced much
• Weighs my hair down

Overall, I like how soft my hair feels after wash and keeps it manageable throughout the day. However, the main purpose of reducing signs of hair thinning hasn’t actually worked much for me.
