Day 3 of this series is about a brand I discovered recently – Rare Beauty by Selene Gomez. I tried a free trial size of the Rare Beauty Soft Blush in my Sephora order recently and was blown away by the formula so I got some more full size products as well as the holiday sets to try! I’m listing out my favourites here after using them for awhile now.
Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner
I love a good eyeliner, actually scratch that, a versatile eyeliner. A few things I look for in an eyeliner are – how LONG it can last, if it’s smudge-proof and waterproof and the different strokes I can do with it. It needs to work for everything – if I’m feeling a ‘cat eye’ today, the eyeliner should work seamlessly and if I’m just winging it lightly on the corners of my eye, I need that to be precise, quick and easy. So much expectations from a eyeliner. LOL. But I found the eyeliner of the year 2020 that delivers all of this – Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner.
This liner is an intense, waterproof liner that gives bold, even strokes that comes in a calligraphy-style brush and helps achieve thin or thicker lines easily. It looks super pigmented and has that beautiful sheen when applied. It is definitely long wearing as I’ve seen it last an entire day until my makeup is off so that’s a win-win. You can do a sleek winged line with it or go bold to create dramatic eyeliner strokes with it.
The eyeliner almost feels like a sleek stylus. Love how easy and quick it is to achieve a winged liner with this. I’m someone who gravitates towards eyeliner pens instead of liquid but the issue I have with eyeliner pens is that they tend to dry out after awhile and doesn’t look as dark or pigmented as I want it to be. Hoping this formula doesn’t dry up too soon. I’ll add an update in this post if that happens.
But otherwise, the eyeliner is really worth the hype.

Rare Beauty Mini Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream Duo
I’ve seen Selena rock these Rare Beauty lip souffle lipsticks and wanted to try the formula before getting a full size. This set comes with two popular shades
- Inspire (a bright red matte)
- Fearless (Deep Mauve Rose)
The lipsticks come in matte packaging and the formula is super pigmented so all you need is a swipe or two of it. The formula isn’t completely matte – it’s rightly described as a souffle. It’s a soft matte finish and stays put for a few hours after which you will have to reapply. It isn’t transfer proof so that’s one reason it doesn’t stay longer than 3-4 hours. This set is a good way to introduce yourself to Rare Beauty products, if interested.

Rare Beauty Lip & Cheek 4 Piece Mini Set
The free trial size of the soft pinch liquid blush made me go for this set. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch blush has the most pigmented and beautiful formula I’ve seen in a blush. You just need a tiny dot of it for your entire cheek. The pigmentation is insane! And it blends like a dream even with that kind of pigmentation. This set contains –
- Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush in LOVE (orange hues)
- Rare beauty Soft Pinch Blush in JOY (mauve rose)
- Rare Beauty Dewy Lip Balm in SUPPORT (nude pink shade)
- Rare Beauty Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream in TRANSFORM ( a deep wine shade)
The blushes are amazing to work with and a true winner in this set. Rare Beauty Dewy Lip balm in SUPPORT is a gorgeous nude pink and is super hydrating with its balmy formula. The lip souffle in TRANFORM is a deep wine that is perfect for Fall/Winter.
Price: $36CAD. This set is currently out of stock on Sephora but there is another holiday set that comes with the soft pinch blush which is priced at $20.

If you’ve never tried Rare Beauty, these sets are a good way to try them without spending money on full sizes. 2 things I would definitely recommend trying from Rare Beauty is their eyeliner and soft pinch liquid blush. You will not be disappointed!
