How are you all? How’s the week coming along? Mine as usual, work. 😐 Sometimes, life gets so monotonous right? Same old mondays, same old work space, same old weekdays. No wonder we end up going berserk during our weekends 😛 That constant change that we crave for.
Anyhoo, if you guys follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you would know about the MAC event I attended a few weeks back! 🙂 I went there with our new writer Sanjana. We got a chance to witness the makeup trends for Spring/Summer 2015 by MAC Global Senior Artist Sonic Sarwate!
Makeup is something that each one of us love to try. Now don’t go “Oh, I don’t apply any makeup. I’m flawless without it anyway”. 😛 Makeup is not just about foundation or blush! Even the eye liner or lipstick you try on is makeup BTW 😛
At the event, we had so much to learn and take back that I have decided to do two posts for the same! One where we talk about the MAC makeup trends for Spring/Summer 2015 and another where we got to interview Sonic Sarwate! We asked him a bucket full of questions(quite literally 😛 ) regarding makeup tricks and tips for our readers and the best MAC products one has to try! 🙂
So this being an introductory post to the entire event, let me start off with a brief introduction about Sonic Sarwate, MAC Global Senior Artist –
Sonic Sarwate, travels around the world, quite a globetrotter if I may say. Sonic’s job is to travel to different parts of the world to Milan, Paris fashion week etc where makeup trends are created and pick up those trends and travel around the world to educate everyone about it. He also does makeup for various celebrities and bring the latest trends to the red carpet at various film festivals. Sonic has also worked with various magazines like Vogue, Grazia, ELLE etc.
Now about what the makeup trends are for Spring/Summer 2015-
MAC Cosmetics has divided Spring/Summer 2015 trends into 4 major distinct trends so that it is easy for anyone to understand and adapt those trends.
Before I start talking about each of these trends, Sonic told us about how it was backstage and how the theme came into picture 🙂
There was a huge inspiration and influence of the seventies for MAC Cosmetics Spring/Summer 2015 makeup trends. Not about seventies makeup but more about the lifestyle. And one thing that comes to your mind when you talk about seventies is FUN.FREEDOM.PARTY 😀 And trends these days have become a lot more wearable and something that everyone can relate to. It’s no more about fantasy makeup with a cake full of foundation, loads of blush and mascara. It’s about being minimal. 🙂
The first trend is Review. This trend is all about black. It’s about eyeliners and mascaras. So everything to do with eyes is covered in this trend. Black has come back in a big way and there are no limits to black this season. You can opt for a classic eyeliner or you can also try a graphic eyeliner. You have the freedom to give it your own personalized touch. Mascaras are used to define your eyes beautifully and they have made a huge comeback this year.
The second trend is Enlightened. Enlightened is all about adding brightness, light and luminosity to your skin. In this trend, MAC talks about how one can use the right kind of moisturizers, primers and foundation to get the skin tone right, luminous and bright.
The third trend is Party. It’s all about bold colours- bright fuschia, bold orange. All about bright lip colours or even nude lips with bold eyeliners.
The last trend is called No Makeup. No makeup is a trend that involves minimal makeup where you try to enhance the features that you already have.
After this brief discussion, Sonic went on to show these trends on models by creating two looks with this hot mess ♥
First Look MAC Cosmetics Spring/Summer 2015 showing trend 1 and trend 2
In this look, Sonic had already prepped the model’s skin with concealer and MAC mineralize foundation just to have some luminosity on the skin. Just to add a little bit of glow, Sonic highlighted her cheek bones and added mascara to her lashes to lengthen and define her eyes.
He also added a bright lip colour from MAC called All Fired Up by using a lip pencil to shape the lips as it makes the colour stay longer and then used the lipstick all over it.
Second Look MAC Cosmetics Spring/Summer 2015 showing trend 3 and trend 4
In this look, Sonic had already prepped her skin with MAC face and body foundation and a nude lip shade that enhances her own lip colour. He did a a graphic colour eyeliner on the model that is bold amd dramatic and kept the rest of the look minimal.
At the event, we had so much to learn and take back that I have written another post about the makeup tricks and tricks from Sonic Sarwate. 😉
