Hi everyone!
I’m back today with some new skincare I’ve been testing out. It’s from a skincare brand that is most raved about in the beauty world, Glossier. I tried their ‘Skincare Set‘ otherwise known as the Phase 1 set which is marketed as those 3 daily essentials to use everyday and after using it for almost 2 months now, here’s my take on it.
Product Name: Glossier The Skincare Set/Glossier Phase 1 Set
Product Price: $55 CAD (saved $9 CAD by buying these three together)
Glossier? Tell me more about them
Emily Weiss, Glossier’s founder and CEO launched Glossier in 2014 as a spinoff to her popular beauty blog Into the Gloss. She built a following dishing the skincare secrets of celebrities while strengthening her reputation as a beauty expert who had tested and reviewed hundreds of products. When she started making her own cosmetics, she turned her trusting readers into trusting customers. Glossier launched by selling four items all geared toward skincare: a face mist, concealer, skin salve, and priming moisturizer.
Since then, the New York City-based company has been the word — and color — on beauty bloggers’ lips.
Product Description by Glossier:
“If you only use three products every day, make them these. Milky Jelly Cleanser gently dissolves makeup and grime, Priming Moisturizer hydrates while visibly minimizing redness, and Balm Dotcom (in your choice of flavor) soothes dry, chafed skin. Together they form the backbone to your daily skincare routine: three not-so-basic basics that keep skin clean, moisturized, and happy each day.”
How did I order? I ordered it directly on their website here. They ship to Canada and also calculate any custom taxes at checkout before you make a payment so that you don’t have to pay any taxes when it’s delivered. Honestly, the custom taxes for my order was almost equal to nothing even though my entire order was more than $300 CAD.
My take on Glossier The Skincare Set/ Phase 1 Set
Packaging: Okay, I have to admit that this is one of the many reasons I wanted to try Glossier. C’mon, that millennial pink packaging is EVERYTHING! Right?!
Products included in this set:
- Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser – This is a mild cleanser that gets rid of all grease & makeup in just one pump of the product. It actually works! It dissolves makeup immediately & helps with getting rid of every last trace of makeup I have. The texture of this cleanser is almost like melted jelly. In terms of results, makeup removal is what I liked it for. Does it help with any skin issues or deep cleanse? Not for me. I haven’t seen any difference in my skin from the time I started using this.
- Glossier Priming Moisturizer – The priming moisturizer has a creamy consistency and is a hydrating everyday moisturizer. I wouldn’t recommend using just this for the harsh winters here in Canada but it works for Fall/Spring or Summer on its own. I usually layer on skincare and start with a beauty oil, followed by a moisturizer so this works for me in winter too. It does make your skin look gla(o)ssier ( 😛 ) and gives a dewy effect.
- Glossier Balm Dotcom – This is the most hyped from the trio I listed and I do know why. It’s called the Universal balm for a very good reason. I use it on my lips, hands, elbows and basically on any parts that feel dry and it keeps my skin super soft, hydrated and plump. But I do feel the quantity in the tube could have been better for the price it’s listed because it will hardly last a month. 🙁 The texture is like thick petroleum jelly and provides intense hydration. But Vaseline does exactly what this does at a much lesser cost.
The Jeromy Diaries Verdict
I did love using the trio but I’m not really sure about a repurchase. I wouldn’t say the Glossier Skincare Set/ Phase 1 set is a must try because there are many products that do exactly what this trio does at a much lesser cost.
